Small Business Expo in San Antonio
We were lucky enough to dedicate Wednesday to the Small/Minority/Women & Veteran Business Owners Conference in San Antonio - it was held at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. If you missed it, definitely do NOT miss the next one! We made a ton of contacts from various city and county agencies, and we are very excited about applying for the many, many vendor programs. The speakers at lunch were very motivating - Mayor Hardberger, County Judge Nelson Wolff, and Jovita Carranza, the deputy administrator of the Small Business Administration, was the keynote. It is uplifting to see so much interest in the success of local small businesses from our city and county governments.
If you own a small business, or are considering starting one, definitely find these goverment agencies and let them help you! Bexar County has a very impressive program put together, and I’m frustrated that we didn’t enlist their assistance earlier. They have training programs, vendor opportunities, outreach events, and more.
Notes from the luncheon speeches:
-SBA loans in San Antonio last year equaled more than $30 million!
-Since the inception of the Patriot Express Pilot Loan Initiative, the SBA has already $6 million in approved loans in this program
